Pu‘unēnē
Shopping Center – Maui’s 1st TARGET
(Located
behind Kahului’s Home Depot on Ho’okele Street. )
California-based Property Development Centers, a wholly
owned real estate subsidiary of Safeway Inc., announced in November 2013 that
it purchased 24.45 acres from Alexander & Baldwin, Inc. It plans to sell 11.88 acres for the
development of Target, which will serve as the new shopping center’s anchor
tenant. Safeway will not be opening up a
supermarket in the shopping center.
The developers say the Pu‘unēnē Shopping Center will have more than 275,000 square feet of retail space with a selection of local and national retailers and service providers. There also will be about 1,425 parking stalls.
The shopping center, which is located at the intersection of Mokulele Highway and Hoʻokele Street across from Zippy's Restaurant, is scheduled to open in March 2015.
